Sermon Rewind 1/8/12 "Be a Biblical Man"
Peter Park kicked off the Detox series with a message on debunking the image of Biblical Manhood. Ned Flanders is the stereotypical image of meek and passive Biblical men. However, that is not what we are called as men, and we need to debunk that image. We are called to lead. Two ways Biblical men lead are by: (1) Servant Hood Not Entitlement. Servant-leadership is about being at the bottom and serving the people. People want to follow that. Jesus Christ is the example to lead by sacrificing himself for others gain. Matthew 20:25-28 (NLT). Our call is to draw people to Christ by loving without strings, regardless of who they are. (2) Taking Responsibility. Adam blames someone else and plays the victim. Genesis 3:6-13 (NLT). Men are called to be like Jesus, to initiate and go first. True maturity comes in the refrain from what we know we can do with worse result. You are called to lead, serve, step up and go first; and people will not see a man but Jesus.
