New International Version (NIV)
1 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Pastor Peter Park shared a message about the topic of love and God’s love. Internally, we sense entitlement, if we love therefore we deserve love back. The twist is the one who loves first deserves the love back. God always loves us first and therefore always deserves our love back. Our love towards people is a transaction with us and God that leads to transformation in us and people. One of the most significant ways we love God back is by loving people. In 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, if we use all our gifts without love, it's nothing (to God). Everything we do good should be a response to God's initiating love to us. How do we live to love. "Love: Give versus Get." Do we look to give or get? Are we looking to give before we get? Our love by the unconditional love of Christ, its through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can love unconditional. Our call to love others.
